Title: How to Effectively Differentiate a Lesson: Simple Strategies for Struggling Students and Keeping your Advanced Students Engaged

 

Description: Participants will be able to utilize specific, quick, tangible, and differentiated activities and ideas to use in a successful classroom with ALL learners. 

 

Title:  Research-Based Instructional Strategies for English Learners (ELs)

 

Description: These sessions will provide research-based instructional strategies to teachers seeking to improve English Learners (ELs) instruction.  If you are a mainstream teacher trying to figure out how to provide language support to your ELs, you are not alone!  There are many ways to support ELs' language acquisition and we will provide some great ideas to get you started.​

 

*Workshops will be provided in grade level bands (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12)*

 

Title:  Second Language Acquisition and Development in the General Education Classroom​

 

Description: This session will focus on the basic principles of how English Learners (ELs) acquire a second language. The implications of how acquiring a second language affects ELs classroom learning will be presented. Concrete/hands-on strategies will be provided to teachers to facilitate and enhance EL students’ social and academic progress.

 

Title:  Project GLAD Second Language Acquisition-Instructional Strategies for EL Learners

 

Description:    This workshop will provide practical strategies that promote student interaction, language acquisition and literacy. Project GLAD was developed and field-tested for nine years by the United States Department of Education. It is a professional development model in the area of language acquisition and literacy.
